NEIYA Brief History

Below is a brief history of the New England Ice Yacht Association. Thanks to former Commodore (1994) Bob Kilpatrick for putting this together and getting us started. We hope it will serve as a jumping off point for an expanded history of our club.

Please feel free to contact us at historian@neiya.org regarding any changes, omissions or additions. We specifically need pictures from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s as well as first hand historical accounts.

Note: your editor is actively working on the formatting to make it more easy on the eyes.

  1. I CAN’T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THE SPRING FOLIC AND THE HARD WAY. IN MARCH OF 1985 WE, BILL RUDOLPH AND RUDY MAUER DID THE HARD WAY WITH 21 OTHER BOATS, IT WAS WILD TO SAY THE LEAST. THERE WAS A DN WITH A SKIPPERS WIFE ON THE RUNNER PLANK THAT MADE THE TRIP. SHE GOT SPECIAL RECOGNITION FOR HER DOING IT TRULY THE HARD WAY. I HAVE MY CERTIFICATE THAT I TREASURE AND WILL NEVER FORGET THE HARD WAY!!
