Word From the CIBC in Maine

Passing on this morning’s post from our friends in Maine and the Chickawaukie Ice Boat Club http://iceboat.me

Bill is very right we have been waiting for this. Stay tuned and watch for the alignment of the planets and sailable ice plates…

Damariscotta Wet Out by billbuchholz

Sensors indicate a nicely evolving surface. The forecast for rain has been reduced to showers, which will be fine because too much rain won’t do us any good, especially as the temps Saturday night are not super cold. But by Monday we should be in good shape for a few days of sailing.

This could be the Spring Fling we’ve all been waiting for. An update will be posted by Sunday at noon after the plate has been checked. Mark Allen photo from March 12, 2017, Lake Farm launch.

Are you talking about a specific plate? For us less active but eager-to-sail members, where would that plate be located? Peter

    • Peter thanks for asking. Bill was referring to Damariscotta Lake in Jefferson. That plate needs a time to settle and scouting by people that know it well. Time will tell…
